Catching up and having fun!

The weather here has finally cooled off a little so it's easier to sleep at night and actually get something done during the day.  We don't usually have humidity here so even when the temperature is hot, it's usually quite pleasant but this summer we seem to have more humidity so it's not always as much fun.  Maybe it has something to do with all the forest fires in the Interior ?  Or maybe just caused by climate change?

While I haven't posted for several days I have been busy.  I'm playing in a summer art mail exchange over on Blissfully Art Journalling.  I'm exchanging mail art with a group of 25 other artists.  I've received some really lovely art and since the deadline of August 31st is fast approaching, I have been devoting my artistic energy to this project.

I had posted on another post that my Journal Page a Day challenge had restarted on August 1st. I have also been working in that journal although not on a daily basis.  I can't seem to get anything done in the 10 minutes I've challenged myself to complete; if I do complete something in 10 minutes then I rarely like it.  I'm probably being anal and too much of a perfectionist (again).  However, that's me and I'd rather end up with something I'm happy with even if it takes longer.  So I've decided to just go with the flow and work in it when I can and not worry about if it's every day.  I must admit I really do like the smaller format. I enjoy that it's not such a large page to fill .  I'll keep motoring along in it and see what I can accomplish.  I'm also working in my larger journal, mostly on backgrounds and adding bits and pieces over time instead of sitting down with the goal to complete a spread in every sitting.   This approach leaves me feeling less overwhelmed and "results oriented" so I enjoy it more and as a result I'm more relaxed.

I haven't posted anything on YT for awhile, my tendency to perfectionism raising it's head again.  I try not to listen to the negative self-talk in my head but sometimes that's a real challenge.  Typically I take a long time to finish a journal page so a video can tend to be too long. I'm not sure how I'll handle that ....maybe start with some short card making videos and then work my way up to a longer video?

Aside from us having started our countdown to Palm Springs in September, there's not a whole lot going on in my little corner of paradise.
