It's a new year!

Things here on the coast have been cold and colder!  If we get snow, and that's a big if, it usually stays a day or two and then melts away.  We received a dump a few days before Christmas and it has stayed and we've also had more since.  It's not a lot of snow in the area where I live, mind you, however it's enough that people freak out and forget how to drive.

I had a quiet Christmas with my daughter and our 3 cats - just the way I like it - and Santa was very good to me.  I usually cook a chicken as there is just the two of us for Christmas dinner, however this year I purchased a boneless turkey breast.  It was only about 2 1/2 pounds but it cooked up beautifully and after 2 full meals, I still have enough for a couple of more meals or soup.  It turned out to be a very cheap meal and was most delicious!

I have a tradition of hosting a New Years Day dinner party where I cook my special Prime Rib roast with all the trimmings.  This is something we always did when my husband was alive and I've continued the tradition every year since, with the exception of last year because of my chemo.  The dinner was a complete success and my roast got rave reviews so it's all good.  We've eaten leftovers both yesterday and today and I still have enough left to make up a curry which I'll freeze and we'll have next week some time.  Again, while the Prime Rib is an expensive cut of meat, it is very economical because of the number of servings we get.  A real treat!!

I'm finally getting around to posting some art.....I know, I know,  I'm late doing that but here it is!

This is a watercoloured greeting card for one of the swaps I play in.
