Away and sad

I'm away for a few days with a friend in Bellingham.  We're staying at the Silver Reef Casino and Spa.  It's a lovely resort and we're enjoying our stay.  The casino, however, is not showing me any love whatsoever!

I checked in with my daughter this evening and she told me that she had taken Kirby to the vet because she wasn't well.  Long story short, the vet felt that she had suffered a stroke and that her body was shutting down quickly.  He believed  she had maybe an hour before she died.  The decision was made to assist her so that she didn't suffer any more.

We're very sad.  She was a rescue cat - a big, beautiful Maine coone with such a loving and placid spirit.  We got her when she was 2 1/2 years old and  she was part of our family for almost eleven  years?  Our youngest cat, Daisy,  is 8 years old.  We got her from the SPCA when she was only 8 weeks old.  Daisy bonded immediately to Kirby and Kirby acted very motherly to Daisy.  They were almost inseparable so I'm sure that Daisy must be grieving and missing her big buddy.  Breaks my heart.  That big beautiful girl will leave a huge hole in our family.
